CHRISTY NEWSOME

Christy Newsome, E-RYT500, YACEP

Christy wants to help you find the union of mind-body-spirit that is the heart of yoga. She started doing yoga in the late-1990s for the physical practice, but kept coming back to the mat for the benefits she had no idea she would find.

During classes, she encourages students to honor their bodies and to let go of ego. She offers variations and uses props frequently, while focusing on feeling a pose in your body, rather than trying to find some idea of a "perfect pose" that may not work in all bodies.

She received her 200-hour certification at Peachtree Yoga under Graham Fowler's and Elizabeth Nix's leadership and her 500-hour and yoga therapy certifications at Etowah Valley Yoga in Cartersville with Susan Hopkins. A self-described "anatomy-nerd," she continually studies and adapts her teaching to help students find a mindful, sustainable yoga practice and freedom through movement.

She also loves reading...and coffee...and the Braves.
